PURPOSE: Provided are spherical phosphor particles obtained by spray pyrolysis method, which has increased surface hydrophobicity, excellent initial emission brightness and improved luminance. CONSTITUTION: The spherical phosphor particles are prepared by the method comprising the step of contacting spherical phosphor particles obtained by spray pyrolysis with alcohol or alcohol-silane mixture to substitute the hydrophilic groups on the surface with alkyl, aryloxy or organosilane groups. Particularly, the phosphor particles are selected from the group consisting of BaMgAl10O17:Eu, (Y,Gd)BO3:Eu, Y2O3:Eu, Gd2O3:Eu, Zn2 SiO4:Mn, YBO3:Tb, and BaAl12O19:Mn. |
