<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device and a method for a vehicle equipped with a torque converter, and capable of realizing high acceleration performance. <P>SOLUTION: This control device for the vehicle is an ECT_ECU400 which controls the vehicle equipped with an engine 100 and the torque converter 200 for transmitting torque to a motor generator 500 and an automatic transmission 300. The ECT_ECU400 includes a control circuit for controlling the motor generator 500 so as to assist the engine 100, and an instruction circuit for instructing the motor generator 500 to assist the engine 100 earlier than the time that a peak value of acceleration generated at the vehicle is developed by the torque of the engine 100 amplified by the torque converter 200. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
