PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear light source which has a large light quantity and small light distribution unevenness by using a small number of light sources. SOLUTION: The linear light source which has light sources arranged on surfaces at both lengthwise ends of a long-sized transparent member and a light source arranged at the center part of the long-sized transparent member and emits light from the flank of the long-sized transparent member and the reverse surface of the center part has a light attenuating film or light blocking film which is provided on the side of the light emission surface of the long-sized transparent member, attenuates or blocks direct light of the light source at the center part, and has its attenuation area or blocking area made smaller toward the light emission parts on both the sides.
