PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a malaria infection diagnostic agent and a Plasmodium stain capable of detecting Plasmodium easily and surely by staining selectively the Plasmodium in blood, and to provide a discrimination method of a malaria infectious disease capable of detecting easily and surely the Plasmodium parasitizing in erythrocyte of peripheral blood, and a staining method of the Plasmodium. SOLUTION: A specific rhodacyanine type dye compound is included, and the rhodacyanine type dye compound is accumulated in a cell small organ of the Plasmodium in the erythrocyte to emit fluorescence, to thereby enable diagnosis of malaria infection. Preferably, the rhodacyanine type dye compound has independently a five-membered or six-membered nitrogen-including heterocycle having an un-substituted or substituted group. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
