PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extremely increase a grinding capacity as compared to a conventional non-woven cloth polishing belt, to lengthen the service life, to reduce the deviation of an object to be polished sideways even though the object to be polished is pressed to one side with the object driven by a roll and to prevent the object from being exfoliated inside the belt by being driven by a small roll. SOLUTION: In the polishing belt, the fibers 4 made of a thermoplastics having polishing grains 5 on the surface are stereoscopically collected without directional property, and the polishing belt is provided with a non-woven cloth polishing layer 3 where the fibers 4 are thermally deformed and are pressed by a pressing plate at a temperature and for a period of time required for flattening the surface of the fibers, and a base sheet 2 connected with the same superimposed on the non-woven cloth polishing layer 3. The polishing belt connects a superimposed body of the base sheet 2 and the non-woven cloth polishing layer 3 in an endless belt. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
