PURPOSE: A method for setting and performing a sleeping mode in a mobile phone is provided to block a reception informing bell sound and transmit a sleeping message when a call is received. CONSTITUTION: A user sets a sleeping mode through a key button for blocking a reception informing function and transmitting a sleeping message when a call is received(210). If the user inputs a sleeping mode start time and a release stop time, a mobile phone sets a sleeping mode time(214,216,218). The mobile phone sets an emergency connection function so that it is possible to receive the call(222). The mobile phone sets an alarm function for releasing the sleeping mode and ringing an alarm when the sleeping mode is stopped(224).
