<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly extract the area of the ventricle, cardiac muscle or the like of the heart from tomogram images of a subject to be observed, and to display intuitively intelligible images on which the thickness of the cardiac muscle of the heart or the like is reflected based on each extracted area. <P>SOLUTION: Plural tomogram images are processed respectively in threshold to get binarizing images (step S10), and similar shapes are sorted out from each binarizing image based on the ventricle shape of the heart (step S12). In each binarizing image, it seeks an area (of the ventricle of the heart) which contains common pixel positions from the inside area sorted from every binarizing images (step S13). The specified area is limited respectively in the area of the ventricle of the heart from the plural tomogram images (step S15), and the area of the cardiac muscle of the heart is extracted by the threshold processing in the limited area (step S16). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
