PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera which can photograph a still picture, record a moving picture and realizes a momentary photographing and recording operation. SOLUTION: When a release switch 30 is slid upward by a forefinger, recording of the moving picture is started. When the forefinger of the release switch 30 is loosened, the release switch 30 returns to a neutral position by a spring. Recording is continuously performed in such a state. When the release switch 30 is slid upward again, recording of the moving picture is stopped. When the release switch 30 is slid without releasing the forefinger from the release switch 30, the still picture is photographed. Since the still picture can be photographed and the moving picture can be recorded by the sliding-type release switch 30, the photographing and recording operation is realized without releasing the finger from the release switch 30.
