PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide brushless DC motor controlling device and a method thereof that minimize torque ripples caused by momentary decrease of a phase current that occurs at a phase converting interval of a three-phase current supplied to a brushless DC motor.
SOLUTION: This controlling device is provided with a power converting device that converts commercial AC power supply to a multiphase power supply; and a controller that controls the power converting device in such a way as to supply a compensating voltage to maintain an average voltage of a non-converted phase to a constant value within the phase converting interval, detected by positional data of a rotor of the brushless DC motor and the moment when an arc-suppressing phase current that flows in the cathode of the power converting device disappears. In this controlling method, a phase conversion starting time is detected from the positional data of the rotor of the motor driven by the supply of the non-converted phase current. The compensating voltage is supplied for minimizing the torque ripples caused by the phase conversion. The supply of the compensating voltage is stopped and the supply of the non-converted phase current is resumed by detecting the finishing time of the phase conversion by the stop of the arc-suppressing phase current that appears in the cathode of the power-converting device.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
