<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for transferring well a developing agent image to a recording medium even if it is impossible to sufficiently increase the magnitude of a transfer bias. <P>SOLUTION: Before starting printing, a generated voltage (corresponding to a resistor value) when supplying a prescribed current to a transfer roller is measured, and a process speed is set as the figure shows, in response to the generated voltage, a paper kind of paper and a paper width. That is, it is controlled to speed down a carrying speed of the paper by the transfer roller, when it is likely for a current leakage to be generated because the paper width is narrow or because the resistor value of the transfer roller is low. Therefor, it is possible to secure electric charges per unit area applied to the paper without increasing the magnitude of a transfer bias. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
