PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid (ink) supply system having an enclosed structure for an ink jet recording head in which gas causing a trouble in recording operation and liquid supply operation can be removed quickly and smoothly from a liquid supply passage without complicating the structure. SOLUTION: Fluid connection is carried out between an ink tank 10 and a liquid chamber 50 for introducing ink from the ink tank to a recording head 20 through two communication conduits 53 and 54. Under a state where gas is present in the liquid chamber, ink is transported from the ink tank 10 through one communication conduit 53 and, at the same time, gas is transported to the ink tank 10 through the other communication conduit 54.
