PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent scattering of ink during wiping operation, to prevent contamination of a blade, to prevent deterioration in water repellence of the nozzle surface, to enhance cleaning power of the nozzle surface, to enhance print stability, and to prevent deterioration in print quality incident to deterioration of the nozzle surface. SOLUTION: The ink jet recorder has a blade for cleaning the nozzle surface of an ink jet head which ejects ink filling an ink channel from a nozzle opening by varying the inner volume of the ink channel, wherein a groove is made perpendicularly to the nozzle surface in one or both surfaces of the blade and a mechanism for sucking ink flowing along the groove is provided.
