PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle body structure of an automobile capable of efficiently absorbing energy when the automobile collides and supporting a wiper unit stably. SOLUTION: This vehicle body structure is provided with a cowl panel 7 having a front wall 9, a rear wall 10, a bottom wall 11, and an upper wall 12 having a free front end part 13, and the cowl panel 7 is extended in the direction W of width of a vehicle body 2. A unit support base 25 supporting the wiper unit 21 is arranged on an inner side of the cowl panel 7 and has a pair of leg walls 26, 26 fixed to the bottom wall 11 and the rear wall 10 of the cowl panel 7, a unit support wall 27 in upper parts of the leg walls 26, 26, and a connection wall 28 connecting the unit support wall 27 with the rear wall 10 and the upper wall 12 of the cowl panel 7.
