PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sold-state electronic imaging device wherein frame rate is shortened, and its driving method. SOLUTION: When coextensive exposure (strobe luminescence timingΔts) of all the photodiodes of a CMOS type image sensor is needed like when strobe luminescence is performed, readout pixels of the image sensor is so thinned out that the number of photodiodes which contribute to a video signal output from the image sensor is reduced. As a result, processing timeΔtp2 (processing time for one line) in an analog processing circuit connected to poststage of the image sensor is shortened, and frame rate is shortened.
