PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording apparatus which realizes optimum application of a coating liquid such as a coating agent for improving the weather resistance of a recording face to the recording face of a recording medium at all times regardless of a water absorption state or the like of the recording medium. SOLUTION: A liquid coating device applies the liquified coating agent 100 to the recording medium subjected to image recording by ink. The recording medium is sequentially passed between a pair of rollers 72A and 72B of a pressure transfer means at the downstream side of a transfer direction of a coating mechanism with a pair of rollers 71A and 71B to which the coating agent 100 is supplied.
