PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool holder selecting method for easily and reliably selecting a shrink-fitted tool holder of highest rigidity, and a tool holder working condition setting method for setting an optimum working condition of the selected shrink-fitted tool holder. SOLUTION: Several kinds of shrink-fitted tool holders not to cause any interference with a working shape of a work 1 are selected out of a large number of kinds of shrink-fitted tool holders with tools 5 having the predetermined diameter fitted with the predetermined projection (first step). Next, one kind of shrink-fitted tool holder of high rigidity is selected based on the data recording each rigidity of the large number of kinds of shrink-fitted tool holders (second step). Further, the rigidity of the selected one kind of shrink-fitted tool holder is compared with and converted into the L/D value which has been used for a standard of a conventional working condition, and the working condition of the work 1 is set thereby (third step).
