PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chain saw cutter dressing device to dress cutters at the upper end of a cutter link arranged with a saw chain. SOLUTION: A guide frame 60 supporting a file holder 50 is mounted along the specified portions of the traced faces 32 and 42 of the right ruler frame and the left ruler frame arranged on the right and left of a guide bar 12 by a positioning mounting means 70. The cutters 22 or 24 at the upper end of the cutter link arranged with the saw chain 14 is dressed by the upper file 52 or the lower bar file 54 held by the file holder 50 by making the file holder 50 slide forward along the guide frame 60. The file holder 50 is moved backward along the guide frame 60 together with the upper bar file 52 and the lower bar file 54 to be reset by turning the rear section of the file holder 50 upward on the traced faces 32 and 42 of the right ruler frame and the left ruler frame.
