TONER CONTAINING AMPHIPHILIC COPOLYMER FOR DRY ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHY, PREPARATION METHOD THEREOF AND ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHIC IMAGING METHOD USING THE TONER

PURPOSE: A toner particle for dry electrophotography, its preparation method and an electrophotographic imaging method using the toner particle are provided, to obtain a toner having uniform diameter, charge velocity and/or charge maintenance property. CONSTITUTION: The toner particle comprises an amphiphilic copolymer which comprises at least one S part and at least one D part; and optionally a charge control agent. The charge control agent imparts a (+) polarity to the toner particle. Preferably the amphiphilic copolymer has a glass transition temperature of 0-100 deg.C, and the S part and the D part have a glass transition temperature (calculated by the Fox equation) of 0 or more and 60-105 deg.C, respectively. Preferably at least one of the D part or the S part contains a (meth)acryl copolymer. The preparation method comprises the steps of providing an organosol which contains a plurality of binder particles which are dispersed in a liquid carrier and contain at least one amphiphilic copolymer; and drying the binder particles by fluidized drying technique and mixing them with the toner particles for dry electrophotography. Preferably the liquid carrier comprises hydrocarbons and is a hydrophobic solvent.
