<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cut down water required to humidify a gas supplied to a fuel cell by enabling humidification of an electrolyte film without causing flooding. <P>SOLUTION: This fuel cell separator has gas passages to supply the gas to a power generating cell to make it as a separator 1 forming a barrier between the power generating cells to be laminated. The gas supply side passage 5 and the gas exhausting side passage 6 are separately formed, and slender grooves 7 (water moving means, communicating passages) to move water between the gas supply side passage 5 and the gas exhaust side passage 6 are provided. Reaction water produced by power generation is pushed out from a fuel electrode and an air electrode to the gas exhausting passage 6 together with the gas. This water moves to the gas supply side passage 5 through the slender grooves 7, and reaches a solid high polymer electrolyte film together with an un-reacted gas.
