PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk recording and reproducing device of which weight reduction and miniaturization are realized while satisfactorily keeping the relative accuracy, etc., between a recording medium such as an optical disk and an optical axis of an optical unit such as an optical pickup. SOLUTION: This disk recording and reproducing device is constituted so that the main chassis for holding a disk rotating motor, the optical unit, a moving mechanism, etc., is molded with a resin material to fix a sub-chassis for holding a rechargeable battery onto the main chassis, and the outside dimensions of the main chassis are made smaller while maintaining the rigidity of the main chassis by resin-molding the main chassis to the desired shape, on which an optical pickup is abutted when the optical pickup of the optical unit comes up to the outermost peripheral position.
