PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin composition used for coating a lid material of a metallic can for food products and beverage products and forming a coating film having excellent processability, adhesiveness, retort resistance and flavor properties. SOLUTION: This resin composition for a can lid coating material is characterized as comprising a polyester resin containing a dicarboxylic acid component composed of 50-90 mol% of terephthalic acid and 10-50 mol% of isophthalic acid and a glycol component composed of 40-70 mol% of an aliphatic glycol having a side chain and 60-30 mol% of ethylene glycol and/or 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol and having≥0.40 intrinsic viscosity and≥60°C glass transition temperature.
