PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission belt for a belt-type continuously variable transmission, having high friction coefficient, less wear and improved quietness on the surface in mutual contact with a variable pulley. SOLUTION: To the contact surface 34 in contact with the variable pulley of a block 32 constituting the compression transmission belt 16 to be used for the belt-type continuously variable transmission 10, a resin coating 36 is fixed which is formed of a mixed material containing a thermosetting resin as a base material being 50% or more in a weight ratio of a whole material and a short fiber material and a power material as fillers being each 5-30% or more in the weight ratio of the whole material. Secured strength and improved friction coefficient are achieved on the surface in mutual contact with the variable pulley, while sufficiently suppressing wear. As a result, allowable transmission torque is further enhanced and the slip of the transmission belt 16 is prevented during a sudden increase in torque, or the size and weight of the belt-type continuously variable tranmision 10 are more reducible than conventional ones.
