PURPOSE: An optical pickup device is provided to remove the birefringence due to the ununiformity of an optical recording medium by using a polarized beam splitter. CONSTITUTION: A light source(21) irradiates a laser beam. A beam splitter(25) changes an advancing path of an incident light by reflecting a part of the incident light and passing the rest straightly. An objective lens(29) forms a beam spot on the optical recording medium by collecting the light passing the non-linear beam splitter. A polarized beam splitter(41) passes the polarized light of the incident light and reflects the differently polarized light. The first optical detector(35) receives the polarized light passing the polarized beam splitter and the beam splitter. The second optical detector(45) receives the differently polarized light reflected from the polarized beam splitter.
