PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information storage device capable of stably pulling in a track concerning the information storage device having a single-axis tracking mechanism as a pickup. SOLUTION: According to this invention, the information storage device for moving a beam on a track formed on a medium by driving a tracking actuator and positioning it at a desired track is provided with a moving speed detection means for detecting the moving speed of the beam in the vicinity of the desired track, and a speed-reduction pulse generation means for determining the amplitude of the speed-reduction pulse to be supplied to the tracking actuator as a linear function of the moving speed detected by the moving speed detection means.
