PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily design an assembly gauge considered to be optimal to an object to be measured. SOLUTION: Basic information corresponding to measurement items of the object to be measured specified by a designer is taken out of a work basic information database 2 and schematically displayed on a screen. When measurement tolerances and work dispersion predicting values being short of as information for selecting a gauge unit assembled to the assembly gauge are input at an accuracy condition input part 28, an accuracy information processing part 8 calculates accuracy requested to the assembly gauge on the basis of the input information. Accuracy requested to the gauge unit is further calculated by deducting input accuracy allowed to the object to be measured from the accuracy requested to the assembly gauge. A gauge unit selection processing part 10 selects a gauge unit of gauge units conforming to the accuracy to be adopted according to priority specified by the designer by retrieving the basic information database 4 on the basis of the calculated accuracy.
