PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a poison bait agent for insect pest extermination in which when an insecticidal active ingredient dissolved in a solvent is added to an eatable base, the poison bait agent has no repellency, attractiveness of the eatable base is not impaired and extermination efficiency of the insecticidal active ingredient is sufficiently exhibited. SOLUTION: The poison bait agent for insect pest extermination is obtained by supporting the insecticidal active ingredient dissolved in the solvent on the eatable base of target insect pests for extermination. In the poison bait agent for insect pest extermination, the solvent is 3-methoxy-3-methyl-1-butanol or a dibasic acid methyl ester-based solvent represented by formula H<SB>3</SB>COOH(CH<SB>2</SB>)<SB>n</SB>COOCH<SB>3</SB>(n is 1-16) having no repellency to the target insect pests for extermination. When a cellulosic base is adopted as the eatable base of target insect pests for extermination, the poison bait agent is applied to a poison bait agent against termites. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
