PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool fixing device for a machine tool, which is simple in structure, can start its machining work in a short period of time after exchange of a tool, and can exchange a component part for use in fixing the tool at a low cost. SOLUTION: According to the structure of the tool fixing device, a tool holder 5 is mounted on the tip of a spindle 2 in a manner of being rotatable together with the spindle 2. The tool holder 5 has a tool mounting hole 9 formed therein from the tip thereof in a manner extending coaxially with the spindle 2 in an axial direction of the same. Further the tool holder 5 has an annular fastening member 11 fitted thereon and fixed thereto by shrinkage-fitting on the periphery of the tool mounting hole 9 in the tool holder 5. Then the tool T is inserted into the tool mounting hole 9 and the tool holder 5 is fastened by the fastening member 11, thereby generating a friction force between an inner peripheral surface of the tool mounting hole 9 and an outer peripheral surface of the tool T.
