DEVICE AND METHOD FOR REMOVING MAGNETIC METAL POWDER STUCK TO STEEL STRIP

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for removing magnetic metal powder in which the outer periphery of the nonmagnetic outer jacket is easily worked and has a smooth surface and by which the surface of the steel strip is not scratched even when the nonmagnetic outer jacket is brought into contact with the steel strip in a magnetic metal powder removing device provided with the nonmagnetic outer jacket and round bar-like magnet which is inserted into the outer jacket. SOLUTION: The device is provided with the nonmagnetic outer jacket having the smooth outer periphery which is arranged oppositely in non-contact state with the upper surface of the steel strip which is moved on a rolling line or the peripheral surface of rolling rolls, the round bar-like magnet which is inserted into the nonmagnetic outer jacket and magnetized to the intensity so that the line of magnetic force reaches at least the upper surface of the steel strip or the peripheral surface of the rolling roll and the magnetized region of which has the outer layer part of the outer periphery formed in a spiral shape and a magnet rotating means for rotating the round bar-like magnet in the nonmagnetic outer jacket, displacing the line of magnetic force which reaches from the round bar-like magnet to the outer periphery of the nonmagnetic outer jacket and guiding the attracted magnetic metal powder in the axial direction along the outer periphery of the nonmagnetic outer jacket.
