PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect occurrence of small longitudinal cracks in a cast piece with high accuracy. SOLUTION: A plurality of temperature sensors 22 are juxtaposed in the width direction of a mold 20, and occurrence of longitudinal cracks in a cast piece 10 is detected when output change states of adjacent temperature sensors are in a predetermined relationship.
