A medium voltage switching device comprising an electromagnetic actuation chain and power supply means for providing electric power to said electromagnetic actuation chain. The power supply means comprise at least a first power supply device which is electrically connected to a medium voltage power distribution line, so as to drain electric power directly from it, and second circuit means for storing at least the electric energy drained for the medium voltage power distribution line, and for providing said electromagnetic actuation chain with a power supply.
