<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To promptly remove air mixed in a low pressure fuel system of a high pressure pump device for a common rail. <P>SOLUTION: In the high pressure pump device 10 for a common rail, low pressure fuel supplied by a feed pump 11 is regulated by a regulation valve 14 and fed to a plunger 12 so that high pressure fuel is obtained and supplied to the common rail. Based on a rail pressure signal PA from a rail pressure sensor 31 and a revolving speed signal Ne, when it is determined that the rail pressure PA does not reach a predetermined value PO in a certain period of time T1 at the time of cranking, the cranking is carried out under such a condition that the regulation valve 14 is fully closed, thereby removing the air mixed in the low pressure fuel system. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
