<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packing apparatus for a platelike article which improves operativity in packing, can surely keep the packed state, and does not cause damage on the packed article. <P>SOLUTION: Locking pieces 15 provided at both longitudinal ends 14 of each first rear cover 12 are inserted into insertion holes 41 formed at both longitudinal ends 38 of a second rear cover 13 toward each second side face cover 10 and locked. The thickness of a region of the longitudinal end 38 of each second rear cover 13 is formed to be thinner than the thickness of an intermediate part 47 between both ends 38. The ends 38 of the cover 13 are provided to retreat to be closer to each other than both longitudinal ends 37 of the second side face cover 10, thereby preventing a step including an aperture or the like from occurring between the cover 12 and the cover 13.
