PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric motor with less vibrations and noise, by suppressing occurrence of impact force generated around each tooth of a rotor and a stator. SOLUTION: This electric motor is made up of a stator 20 that includes a plurality of teeth 21 and coils 24 that are wound on those teeth 21 to form rotating magnetic flux by an impressed current, a rotating shaft 400, and a rotor 300 that has a shaft-inserting hole 310 to which the rotating shaft 400 is fitted and that is fitted in such a way as to be rotatable inside the stator 20. A plurality of V or U shape magnetic material inserting slots 320 are cut radially centering the shaft inserting hole 310 in the rotor 300. The magnetic materials 330 are each inserted and fixed in the slots 320. On the outside circumferential surface of the rotor 300, a plurality of gap widened portions 500 are formed where the gaps between the rotor 300 and each tooth 21 of the stator 20 are widened.
