PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress increase in the power consumption and to enhance the reliability of a decoding result. SOLUTION: A threshold value comparison section 210 compares an external information likelihood 152 with a prescribed threshold value and outputs a result of comparison to a counter 220. The counter 220 is incremented by one when the absolute value of the external information likelihood 152 is the prescribed threshold value or over. A decision section 230 decides whether or not repetition of decoding is to be continued on the basis of the count of the counter 220. Concretely, the decision section 230 decides the stop of the repetition of decoding when the count is the prescribed value or over and decides the continuance of the repetition of decoding when the count is less than the prescribed value. Further, the decision section 230 controls a turbo decoder 100 in response to the result of decision to continue or stop the repetition of decoding. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
