摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which is effective when it is applied to a time division driving of a liquid crystal display (LCD). SOLUTION: The method for driving an antiferroelectric LCD is characterized by having a selected wave form, scanned by line sequential addressing and applied to a selection electrode, consisting of a plurality of continuous unit component rectangular waves per unit time period, having a signal applied to a signal electrode so as to be synchronized with the last unit component rectangular wave of the selection electrode, having the selected wave forms applied to the mutually adjacent selection electrodes optionally and temporally superimposed to each other and having application of the last unit component rectangular wave of the selected wave form applied to the selection electrode provided with a time difference of a unit time period with respect to the last unit component rectangular wave of the selected wave form applied to the neighboring selection electrode in driving the antiferroelectric LCD. The unit component rectangular wave constituting the selected wave form is fully arbitrarily set. Furthermore, the method is effective in driving at a low temperature region and in reducing image persistence of an LCD. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
