PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an epoch-making flat type stepping motor capable of realizing significantly small thickness in the direction of its rotating shaft with a simple structure. SOLUTION: This flat stepping motor comprises first upper and lower stator yokes 31a, 34a which are formed with a plurality of pole teeth so as to face each other respectively along a semi-circular peripheral edge and clipped with an exciting coil portion 40A, second upper and lower stator yokes 31b, 34b which are formed in face to face with the yokes 31a, 34a with a plurality of pole teeth so as to face each other respectively along a semi-circular peripheral edge and paired by sandwiching an energizing coil 40B, and a rotor 50 rotatably disposed inside the pole teeth. The first upper and lower stator yokes 31a, 34a and second upper and lower stator yokes 31b, 34b are formed with a cap-shaped protrusion portion respectively so as to face each other.
