PURPOSE: A network encryption device and a method thereof are provided to select/apply a desired encryption algorithm to a system, and offer convenience to a user by making the system automatically recognize which encryption module is mounted. CONSTITUTION: The encryption module(100) mounts an encryption chip realizing the algorithm desired by the user by making a daughter board separated from a main board. An encryption module interface(200) provides a slot for connecting the encryption module to the main board by connecting to the main board. A microprocessor(6) confirms a sort of the encryption module by the information inputted from a specified pin and stores the encryption algorithm of the encryption module in a flash memory(7). If the packet data is inputted from the network, the microprocessor encrypts the packet data by the encryption module.
