PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform stable seek speed control without largely disturbing a motor drive current even when moving speed detection accuracy of a pickup is deteriorated in high speed moving concerning a seek control method of a seek control device drive-controlling stably and accurately the pickup arranged for various format media. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a means for suppressing variation of a head drive current caused by a large speed detection error by reducing the feedback gain in the case of high speed and moving accurately the pickup to a target track by increasing the feedback gain in the case of low speed, when the pickup is acceleration-controlled, constant-speed-controlled when the speed reaches the prescribed speed, deceleration-controlled when the pickup approaches the target position, and an error between speed detected from the pickup and the target speed is fed back and controlled at the time of constant speed control and deceleration control.
