PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character input method and a character input device using a pointing device. SOLUTION: This character input method includes: a step for recognizing movement information of the pointing device and click information of at least one button provided for the pointing device; and a step for selecting a character by using the recognized movement information and the information of at least one button. Thereby, a pointing function and a character input function can easily be realized only by the common pointing device, and the character input is facilitated even in process of other work in a wearing type input device environment.
