PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide low-cost energy dissipator 1 for preventing an outflow pipe from being blocked with sewage even when a weir is high, when a distance between the weir and the outflow pipe is short and when the size of the outflow pipe is small. SOLUTION: This energy dissipator 1 provided with a sheathing board 2 for absorbing the energy of a high-speed water screen flowing in from an inflow pipe 3, allows the flowing water with its energy absorbed by colliding against the sheathing board 2, to go over the sheathing board 2 and to flow out to the outflow pipe 4. The interior of the energy dissipator 1 and the interior of the outflow pipe 4 have spaces for the flow of air, and an air flow passage 51 communicating the respective spaces is provided inside the energy dissipator 1 and outflow pipe 4.
