PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressure device in an elevator shaft to prevent intrusion of smoke by pressurizing the inside of the elevator shaft at the time when a fire breaks out. SOLUTION: The pressure device to be set in the elevator shaft is equipped with pressure piping 6 to be arranged in the elevator shaft 1, a compressed air cylinder 4 connected to the pressure piping 6 and a valve 5. The valve 5 is actuated by a control device 5a and opened in accordance with a signal from a fire sensor 7, and pressure air is blown out to the inside of the elevator shaft 1 from a slit of the pressure piping 6. Consequently, the inside of the elevator shaft 1 is pressurized and intrusion of the smoke is prevented. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
