PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning apparatus 31 which can automatically remove a stain on a grip 16 of printed-matter conveying equipment 11 in a short period of time, and can adapt to a shape of the grip 16 and the state of the stain on the grip 16. SOLUTION: The cleaning apparatus 31 for the printed-matter conveying equipment 11 is used for conveying printed matter by holding it by the grip 16. The cleaning apparatus 31 is equipped with a brush 37 for cleaning the grip 16 by being brought into contact with the grip 16, and a cleaning unit 40 with a motor 38 for rotating the brush 37. The cleaning apparatus 31 is also equipped with a variable means 64 for varying an angle of the brush 37 which is brought into contact with the grip 16. The brush 37 is rotated by the motor 38; the rotating brush 37 is brought into contact with the grip 16 so that the grip 16 can be cleaned; and the stain on the grip 16 can be automatically removed with ease in a short period of time. The angle of the brush 37, which is brought into contact with the grip 16, is varied by the variable means 64, and the grip 16 can be surely cleaned depending on the shape of the grip 16 and the state of the adhesion of the stain to the grip 16.
