PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small and high productivity ink jet head and an ink jet printer. SOLUTION: A heating element array 3 where a large number of heating elements 3a are arranged linearly in the main scanning direction on the upper surface of a base plate 2, n common electrodes 4 being connected commonly with the heating elements 3a in each of n (natural number of 3 or above) blocks thereof, and n driver ICs 6 for controlling conduction of the heating elements 3a in each block are fixed to a head substrate 1 above which a top plate 7 having a large number of ink ejection holes 8 is placed to form a specified gap between and that gap is filled with ink 10. In such an ink jet head, the common electrodes 4 and the driver ICs 6 are arranged alternately along the heating element array 3 on the opposite sides thereof. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
