PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling a sampling position of a digital display are provided to control a sampling clock position using a low-performance microcomputer without having an error even when the resolution of the digital display is improved. CONSTITUTION: A digital display includes an analog-digital converter(10) to which an analog video signal is applied, a graphic controller(20) connected to the analog-digital converter, a phase locked loop circuit(30) connected to the analog-digital converter to apply a sampling clock signal to the analog-digital converter, a detector(40) consisting of a comparator(41), a counter(43) and a reference value setting unit(42), and a controller(50) for controlling the entire operation of the digital display. The graphic controller scales a digital video signal converted by the analog-digital converter in response to a control signal received from the controller to display an image corresponding to the video signal on a display panel.
