<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the deterioration of a light emission element to the minimum and eliminate the blur of edge generated in a movie display in an active matrix type display. <P>SOLUTION: The display includes a scanning drive circuits 17 and 18 which apply a scanning signal on a plurality of data lines 20 and a plurality of scanning lines 21 of a display panel 12, a signal discrimination circuit 14 which compares image signal data of different frames, discriminates whether the image is a still image or a moving image, and outputs a signal discriminating whether the image is a still image or a moving image, a control circuit 15 which supplies to the scanning drive circuits 17 and 18 a signal which sets the intensity of light emission of the light emission element in a frame at a first value when the discriminating signal from the signal discrimination circuit 14 is of a still image, and stops the light emission of the light emission element at halfway in a frame and sets the intensity of light emission of the light emission element at a second value larger than the first value when the discriminating signal is of a moving image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
