PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeder avoiding sheet feed failure and to provide a recording apparatus having the sheet feeder. SOLUTION: In the sheet feeder 100, a Lumirror (R)132 is put at a region excluding a region (marked by a diagonal line) corresponding to the corner section of recording paper S on the upper surface of a holder 130, where the recording paper is placed, thus preventing a lower end from being bent when the recording paper S is pushed by a hopper 128 to the side of sheet feeder rollers 122R, 122L and avoiding sheet feed failure.
