PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator sill securing safety in passengers who get on/off by allowing the passengers to easily recognize the gap between the cab sill and the hall sill of the elevator, achieving illumination with high illuminance, allowing the height of a step to be recognized easily even if the step occurs, and irradiating with light the entire width of the sill which is easy to see also in terms of design. SOLUTION: The elevator sill comprises a first cold cathode fluorescent lamp illuminator 17b that is provided at the side edge section at a hoistway in the sill 23 of the hall exit/entrance of each floor being provided at the hoistway, where a cab 10 is elevated; and a second cold cathode fluorescent lamp illuminator 17a being provided at the side edge section opposite to the sill 23 of the hall entrance/exit of the sill 13 of the entrance/exit in the cab 10. Then, the first and second cold cathode fluorescent lamp illuminators 17a, 17b are arranged opposingly each other at each sill, and are lit when the cab is on the floor at the hall to irradiate a gap 16 between both the sills with light. Additionally, when a step is generated and the cab is at halt, the side edge section of the sill, where the step is high, is irradiated with light brightly, thus allowing passengers to easily recognize the gap or step of the sill.
