PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an axle holding device to contribute to realize a moving disassembling by precisely performing wheel set disassembling work which separates a wheel from the axle of a wheel set used in a carriage for railroad vehicle, especially alignment work including horizontal centering of the axle in the moving disassembling with a simple constitution. SOLUTION: The device is equipped with an air movement type holding device body which horizontally moves so as to convey the axle 11 horizontally supported by clamping with chucks 36, 36 in the perpendicular direction to the center, a first fixing means 70 fixing the whole of the holding device body in the moving direction in a wheel separation position, second fixing means 31d, 31d fixing the parts including the chucks 36, 36 in a horizontal state, and an inclination correction means correcting the inclination of the axle 11 in vertical surface including the center of the axle 11 clamped with chucks 36, 36. The inclination correction means is constituted by a lifting mechanism 36b liftably supporting at least one of a plurality of chucks 36, 36 clamping the axle 11. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
