<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microcapsule and a thermal recording material using the microcapsule, which prevent the permeation of a substance in the application of low energy, which allow the efficient permeation (an increase in gamma) of the substance on an arrival at color-development printing energy, which allow the adequate permeation of the substance in the application of high energy and which reduce fogging in storage and yellow coloring with time by photoirradiation. <P>SOLUTION: The microcapsule contains a diazo compound or an electron-donative dye precursor. A capsule wall of the microcapsule is characterized by comprising a polymer which is obtained by the polymerization of compounds 1, 2 and 3, that is, isocyanate compounds.
