<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for producing fermented food for household use capable of adjusting fermented food to be produced, species of bacteria to be used or fermentation time according to taste. <P>SOLUTION: This apparatus for producing fermented food is such that a material food such as soybeans S and cow's milk M with inoculated Bacillus natto and lactic bacterium is held in an inner container 5 as a fermentation chamber of a heat insulating container 1 as the main body, the fermentation of the material food is promoted through driving a warming unit 11b of a temperature adjusting unit 11 by a control circuit 16 to warm the inner container 5 according to time of fermentation process adjusted by a fermentation time setting section 27a as a fermentation adjusting means, and the fermentation of the material food is stopped through cooling the inner container 5 by a cooling unit 11a of the temperature adjusting unit 11 in a fermentation stopping process after the termination of the fermentation process.
